NATIONAL REGATTA PREP & MID SUMMER REFRESHER CLINIC
JULY 5 TO JULY 16 (Fun Sail Friday on 9 & 16)
Program
During the clinic we will focus on preparing opti sailors for the USODA Team and Fleet racing Championships and providing a great mid-summer refresher. Marek and Colin will be heading the clinic. We are planning to give you an intense workout that will help you get ready for the Nationals and your future sailing.
Typical Clinic Schedule
Monday thru Thursday
8:30 – 9:00 Rigging
9:00 – 9:45 Briefing and warm-up
9:45 – 1:30 Ocean practice (snack on the water)
1:30 – 2:00 Lunch & Pool break
2:00 – 2:30 Briefing
2:30 – 3:30 Inside practice (team racing)
3:30 – 4:00 De-rigging and wrap-up
Friday – Fun sail
9:00 – 12:00
Schedule Changes
The schedule is guaranteed to change daily. If we have great weather we may stay on the ocean longer, if it looks bad, we may not even go out. Some days we will run for our fitness training, some we will swim; again depending on the weather at that moment. Racers will need to bring swim goggles and running shoes each day.
Summer Thunder Storm Concerns
The idea is to get all the kids back inshore before the afternoon thunder storms start-up and work on inside team racing practice, boat speed and technique as well as fitness, hiking bench, video, equipment, swimming, etc, thru the afternoon.
Younger Green Fleet Kids
For the ocean practice, 1/2 of the younger will kids ride out in the Coach Boat and take turns sailing the boats of the other half to manage fatigue while they build up stamina.
Age Minimum
Appropriate age is subjective and best determined in consultation with the coaches. Final program availability is subject to coach discretion and sailors may be asked to sit-out if it is too overwhelming for them.
Cost
